Martina Komárková was born in 1963. She is a poet, children’s book writer, and screen writer. She received her M. A. in Czech literature and language at Charles University in Prague. She has three children (24, 18 and 4 years old) and one granddaughter (7 months old). She has worked as an editor in a publishing house, journalist, and director of the house of culture in Jičín, and, since 2007, as a screen writer at TV NOVA (serial Ulice (Street)). She published two poetry books O čem je řeč (What It Is All About, 1997), Prašní lidé (People out of Dust, 2007), regularly publishing also in Czech literary magazines and national radio. At the moment she is preparing poems inspired by Michail Ščigol’s paintings. She has also written four books for children (Albatros award, nomination for Golden Band Award) and many screen plays for Czech national TV.
