Paddy Bushe was born in Dublin in 1948. He lives in Kerry. He writes in both English and Irish and has published nine volumes of poetry, the most recent of which are Gile na Gile (2006), To Ring in Silence: New and Selected Poems (2008), a bilingual volume, and My Lord Buddha of Carraig Éanna (2012). He has also published three books of translation (from Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Chinese), and edited two anthologies. He has won the Listowel Poetry Prize, The Michael Hartnett Award, Duais Filíochta an Oireachtais, and the Strokestown International Poetry Prize. A member of Aosdána, the Irish academy of creative artists. He is currently working on a study of the cultural landscape of Iveragh.
